The first month of 2017 is already over.. the year has just begone and it’s already chapter 2 of 12. That’s crazy! Time just flies by in my opinion!
But since it’s a new month, I wanted to share some of my favourites from January, including a playlist with all the songs I listened to over and over again. You can listen to the playlist from my soundcloud while reading the rest of the post, if you like!
My most favourite thing about January was definitely the beautiful Winter we had! All the snow, covering the hills and trees in white, making the forest look like a Winter Wonderland. Even though it was really cold, I enjoyed walking trough the crispy air with the sunshine on my face. Afterwards I could make a tea and sit in front of the fireplace to get warm again. The dog loved the snow as well. She ran around like crazy and played with it, until she was fully covered. Playing in the snow, sliding down the hill, going ice skating with a whole bunch of people was so much fun! Since we didn’t have much snow the past few year, I really came to appreciate and enjoy the Winter weather!
Snailmail is something I’ve discovered recently. Of course, writing letters and making friends around the world isn’t a new concept to me. I’ve always loved writing letters and I’ve been sending cards to my friends. But there is a whole online community of pen pals and snailmailer, that I wasn’t aware of. Now that I know of this community and have gotten in contact with a few peeps, I am really excited to write more lovely letters in the future. Some are already on their way to another country!
One thing to know about me is that I love tea. My tea collection constantly grows. I have some all-time-favs, but there are two flavours I’ve really liked a lot recently. One is the TEEKANNE Japanisches Kirschblütenfest (japanese cherryblossomfest), which has a really light cherry flavour. It’s naturally a little sweet, so it almost tastes like a treat! The other one I’ve been drinking especially in the morning, is Meßmer Energie, Ingwer Holunderblüte (Energy, ginger elderflower). As the name says, the tea is really energizing. With the combination of ginger and elderflower, it isn’t too spicy, which I find many ginger teas to be. I will put links for the tea at the end of the post, in case anyone in interested.
All the profile pictures that show my face feature one of the
SNOW filters. I really like playing with the features of this app and trying out all the cute filters when I’m bored. I don’t really use the app itself to communicate, but since you can save the pictures, it doesn’t matter to me. I think it’s a cute alternative to snapchat anyways..
Ranting Monkey is a web series about kpop idol and f(x) member Amber Liu. In a vlog-type format we get to follow her around the world, seeing what her daily life and her work is like, where she goes and what she does. But not only that. Since it’s called RANTING monkey, Amber talks alot. Many of the topics she covers are dear to her heart, and meant to inspire and influence people around the world in a positive way. However this doesn’t mean the videos are serious. Expect lots of funny moments, hanging out with her friends, doing silly stuff… Maybe I’m just biased (because I really am), but in my opinion she is such an inspirational person and watching these videos is like hanging out with her! The last episode was released last month, and it makes me really sad that there will be no more videos (as of now). But I can still go and re-watch them anytime!
The last thing on my favourites list is another app. It is called Memrise and it’s a good help to study. I use it to improve my language skills. I’m refreshing my Japanese and I started learning Korean. The app is built like a game. You are an astronaut on a mission. Trough studying you gain points. When you have earned enough points, you level up. As the levels get higher, you learn more words and phrases (and signs in Japanese and Korean). There are several rounds to repeat the words. What I find really useful is the combination of seeing the words in multiple choice, writing the words yourself and being told the words. This way, you repeat them often in different ways. For me it makes it easier to remember than just studying by hard. Also, the app doesn’t only feature many languages, but has lots of different categories like science, literature, music, etc. as well!
If you have made it through my list, please tell me your favourite things of the month of January! I’d love to know!
Love, Epi
